The Friday Routine Your Peace of Mind is Missing

The Friday Routine Your Peace of Mind is Missing

If we were sitting down having a conversation right now, I’d ask you a simple question: When Sunday night rolls around, do you actually feel rested, or do you feel like you just survived another weekend?

In the world we live in right now, the lines between our work and our recovery have completely blurred. Our homes have turned into remote offices, school workspaces, side-hustle headquarters, and places of endless, frantic chore-lists. Without a deliberate boundary, your mind never fully separates the space where you labor from the space where you are supposed to heal. Burnout happens when the line between production and rest completely disappears.

We need clear, physical cues to tell our brains that the week is officially over. That is exactly why I started practicing what I call the Friday Sunset Shift, and it has completely transformed the atmosphere under my roof.

The shift isn’t a frantic, deep-clean marathon. It’s an intentional routine to close the door on the demands of the week. Right before sunset on Friday, I intentionally clear away the weekly clutter, close the laptop, and prep the environment for the Sabbath.

My favorite part of the routine? Putting the pot on the stove to brew a fresh botanical steep.

As the water comes to a boil and infuses with fresh lavender, rose petals, and a crushed cinnamon stick, the entire house fills with this warm, grounding aroma before I even wipe down a single surface. The physical act of spraying down the rooms, washing the floors with crisp pine needles, and misting the bedsheets with a calming lavender and rose spray becomes a milestone. The scent itself signals to my mind: The week is done. The labor is finished. You are safe to let go.

When you cross that threshold, your home changes purposes. It transforms from a place of constant production into a peaceable habitation, a quiet resting place.

This weekend, I challenge you to try the Sunset Shift. Grab your favorite BTHC blend, brew a hot steep, and use that beautiful aroma to set a boundary of peace in your home. Let the air clear, let your skin rest, and give your family permission to fully surrender to the rest God designed for you.

You’ve worked hard all week. Now, share this with your loved ones. Let your home hold you.
